Description: ‘Natchez’ Crape Myrtle is a deciduous, multi-stemmed shrub with dark green foliage, exfoliating brown bark, and white flowers. It can be grown as a tree in warmer areas, but tends to be grown as a shrub in colder climates where it is less hardy and may die to the ground and resprout each year. ‘Natchez’ is the result of a hybrid cross between Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia indica) and Japanese Crape Myrtle (Lagerstroemia fauriei). Generous clusters of white flowers appear from mid-summer to early fall. The foliage takes on an orange to red fall color, and the cinnamon-brown bark will start exfoliating with age. Winter injury may occur in zones 5 and 6.
