Birds of Fairview

Of course where there are trees… there is wildlife! Trees provide an important source of food and habitat for many animals. You are very likely to encounter a deer, squirrel, or various other creatures when you visit our grounds. But the broadest and most significant portion of our wildlife is made up of many, many species of birds. While some can be spotted year-round, others migrate through on their annual journey, often staying for awhile before moving on—in fact, our spring and fall birding walks are scheduled to coincide with this very occurrence. That is is why you can observe such a rich diversity of bird species on our grounds at these times.

Below is a list of bird species that have been observed during our birding events. We thank Pete Axelrod, the naturalist and bird expert who leads the bird walks, for compiling this ever-growing list from these events.
