Albert A. Drake

1834–1897


Albert Drake was born in New York City and moved to Westfield in 1890. He was the owner of land, then known as the Drake Estate, which eventually became the beautiful Westfield neighborhood known as Stoneleigh Park. This area is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Early in his life he served in the Civil War as part of the New York 37th infantry Regiment and was a New York Volunteer National Guard member. He spent his professional career as a broker, banker and clerk.
