Description: Red Maple is a fairly fast-growing maple that is native all across the eastern half of North America. It gets its name from the spring flowers, new growth, petioles (leaf stems), and samaras (“propeller” fruits) all having a red tinge—as well as the leaves in autumn, although the quality of fall color can vary greatly.
