Description: Green Ash, is medium-sized tree, native to and widespread across North America. It is very similar in appearance to the White Ash, although one distinguishing characteristic is that the purplish flowers (with no petals) appear after the foliage emerges on the Green Ash. Drooping clusters of winged samaras (“propeller” fruits) ripen in fall and may cling to the tree throughout winter. Foliage turns yellow in fall, and the fall color can varying in intensity from year to year. Like White Ash, the wood of Green Ash is commercially used for products like tool handles, oars, garden furniture, and sports equipment.
