Description: Eastern White Pine is a fast-growing and long-living evergreen tree typically reaching 50-80′ in cultivation and 100′ or more in the wild. Despite its natural height, the overall shape and size can be well controlled in the landscape by pruning, and it can even be grown as a hedge. Unlike many more prickly conifers, the long needles are soft to the touch. White Pine, although still important today, was especially valued in past centuries for its attractive, lightweight wood.
