Description: Deodar Cedar, an evergreen conifer native to the Himalayas, is the most pendulous of the true cedars (genus Cedrus), with gracefully drooping branches. A tree of moderate growth speed, it will generally mature to 40-50’ tall in about 25 years. In its native habitat, however, it will reportedly grow much taller over time, sometimes reaching a whopping height of 150-200’. Only marginally hardy in this area, trees should be planted in locations that are shielded from winter winds. There are some cultivars on the market with slightly better hardiness. Drought tolerant once established.
